Qualifcations and Awards

We can provide some of British Canoeings world renound and recognised qualifications and training. If you don't see what you need, please get in contact as we are always expanding on our delivery portfolio or know someone we get put you in contact with.

Prices are fixed and shown on each tab and are per person, each course is a minimum of 2 and maximum of 6 or 8 depending on the course. British Canoeing courses can vary, please check the information below carefully

Helmets, bouyancy aids and paddles are avaliable for use on all courses for all clients if requested prior to the session. Boats and other items such as dry bags, spray decks etc are avalible on request in limtied numbers, additional fees may apply. Please check the required list on the booking confirmation email.

Paddlesport Safety and Rescue Course (PSRC) - £90pp

Take part in the essential course for ALL paddlers. This course focus is on looking at keeping yourself and others safe in the sheltered water environment (200m from shore in upto force 3 winds). Learn how to do effectice rescues of canoes, kayaks and SUP's, all from your choosen craft.

The course will last contain 6 hours of practical learning across 6 modules.

Learn about;

  • What kit to wear and how to check it

  • Understanding different environments

  • Equipment to carry to keep you and others safe

  • Towing craft back to shore

  • Recovering and emptying capsized crafts

  • Getting people back into crafts

  • Dealing with unconscious individuals

Prices includes boats, paddles, and certification fees for members - Bouyancy aids and helmets are avaliabe upon request via email.

Minimum=1 Maximum=8

Sheltered Water - SUP Award - £180pp

This 2 day course can make you self sufficient in the sheltered water environment (upto 200meters from the bank) in upto force 3 winds (12mph) or on slow flowing rivers upto 0.5 knots in speed. A great way to get some knowledge on being a self sufficient SUPer when paddling with a group. Turn those long days out exploring your local area, that much safer for you and those around you.

We can cover topics such as;

  • What kit to wear and how to check it

  • Planning your day out and water access rights

  • Using slings and rescue equipment suitable for you

  • Towing others that need some help

  • Working with the wind to make your paddling easier

  • Efficient paddling (Forwards, sideways, turning)

  • Getting people back onto their boards

  • Dealing with unconscious individuals

Minimum=2 Maximum=6

Paddle Safer - £45

The Paddle Safer Course is based on learning and, as such, the ethos of ‘supporting the paddler’ is the main focus of the course, encouraging individuals to consider where they paddle, the equipment they use and provide practical solutions if they get into difficulty.

The course covers 4 key modules:

  • Equipment

  • Environmental factors

  • Planning

  • Rescues​

Bring along you own boats and equipment and we can show you how the get the most out of what you have.​ We can provide helmets and bouyancy aids if requested

Course is two hours of learning, we suggest planning 3.5 hours of course time due to gnahes, briefs etc.​

Minimum = 4 Maximum = 8

Paddle start - £45pp

A great place to start for those who have never tried out paddling before. In this half day course you will learn the absolute basics of paddling


Learn about;

  • Getting in and out of boats with help

  • What we can wear to keep us safe

  • Highlight major hazards to us on the water

  • Experiment with forwards, backwards and turning

  • Lifting and carry boats with help



Minimum=4 Maximum=8

Paddle Discover - £65pp

Develop your decision making and practical skills in paddling. become more self -confident and part of the paddling team, being able to assist leaders and be a team player


Learn about;

  • Choosing and appropriate venue and conditions

  • Stowing and what equipment we carry on the water

  • Understanding other river users and shared access

  • Add variety to your static and on the move turning

  • Start to look at self rescues and helping others

  • Towing over short distances to get back to the bank



Minimum=4 Maximum=6
Paddle explore - £75pp

This is the final step in the paddle awards at this level. With this award the aim to accredit the individual in being an independant paddler, capable of planning and executing their own days out on the water safely and with real consideration for choices made in sheltered water. For this, the coach will get you to plan and carry out a real paddling trip to check these skills.

  • Planning, forecasting, location choice and access rights

  • Using the environment and conditions to aid you

  • Using maps to identify your location and egress points

  • Identify common paddling injuries and how to prevent them

  • Execute a good self-rescue

  • Have an action plan for furture development
